Wet Weekend
It startled me awake early Saturday morning. What was this strange sound coming from outside? Could it actually be....raining? Yes, indeed! It poured most of the weekend. Our backyard became a fun playground of puddles for the kids. Swimming in the rain was a huge hit with Lydia and John as well. Only downside was showing up to a park for a schoolmate's Birthday party right as the rain picked-up. We played in the car for a hour until the party was eventually cancelled. People in San Diego don't make back-up plans. Megan

Beach with Trash
This is Lydia's clay sculpture, designed and created on her own at the Children's Museum. It is entitled "Beach with Trash." I am slightly impressed with her environmental awareness but mostly depressed that this is how she pictures the beach. Thanks Southern California. I miss Navarre. Megan

My Ah-Ha Moment
I now understand why parents love putting their daughters in dance. This outfit is ridiculously cute. Megan

Soccer Mom Dreams on Hold
The last few practices of Lydia's soccer season were a little difficult; it took a lot of coercion to get Lydia to participate. John and I decided to take a break and try again when Lydia is older. We are also trying not to fall into the trap of over-scheduling kids in activities. However, Lydia came home from school one day asking to take ballet. And then again the next day...and the next. So when I saw a good deal on a class at a studio near our house, I signed up. Lydia began ballet/tap classes last week and she seems motivated to do her best. Here she is showing me some of her moves before heading to class. Do I have what it takes to be a Dance Mom? Megan

What to do???
I have mentioned before that Jack wants to do everything he sees Lydia do. Well, Lydia is going through a coloring stage, which means Jack wants to color all the time too. Only he likes to color everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE. This kid is a much different breed than Lydia. When I tell him no, it often makes him want to do whatever it is more. Stubborn? A boy-thing? Terrible twos beginning? I'm at a bit of a loss. Megan
