Easter Smiles

I had been looking forward to having our own egg hunt at the condo Easter morning, a holiday that hasn't received much attention in previous years. John and I were all smiles as we filled colorful, plastic eggs with M&Ms, Reeses and goldfish crackers the night before. Lydia was all smiles when she woke up to find the eggs. No diaper change, no milk--we just went right to the sugar! And to top it all off, Lydia opened Easter basket goodies, sent so thoughtfully from my friend Jessica. Playdoh and candy marry perfectly! Beach Easter Egg Hunt

Though Lydia was not a fan of the Bunny, she did fall in love with jelly beans and also got a good start on her tan! We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!!! Megan

A Little Sadness

John and I are certainly going to miss this, and so will Lydia. Pretty much daily, she runs to the closet where we keep her beach toys and asks "beach?" Today was a perfect beach day for Lydia as the tide left puddles along the shoreline, perfect little swimming pools to pounce in. Megan

Rough Housing with Daddy

Only Daddy can spin Lydia over his head (too much of a work-out for me!) and make her laugh this hard. Megan

More Busy-ness

The past week continued to be very busy for our family. John received written orders to San Diego, so our move is now guaranteed . John also was given a sponsor to help answer his MANY questions on what he might expect from the Coast Guard. We listed our condo with Navarre Properties, created the actual listing and even received our first two reservations--success! The most difficult part of the week for me was staging the photos for the listing. Making something absolutely perfect is not my forte, especially with a toddler running around. Energy Abounds

I came across this photo of Lydia, taken a few days before she broke her arm. 20 month old Lydia is active and energetic. She loves to point out the names of things. When the doctor inspected her cast, she repeatedly said "sorry," breaking all hearts in the room. Her final two teeth have started to come in. The beach is Lydia's preferred place to be, playing in the water and sand. The dreaded "terrible twos" may be starting. Quite unusual for Lydia, she has become an anti-napper. Instead of easily falling into slumber, she plays and whoops in her crib for over an hour before finally giving into sleep. Megan

Busy, Busy, Busy

Check out Lydia's neon yellow cast--good for safety! She is doing much better with no signs of pain or even a slight reduction in speed. And though she has damaged both bones in her arm, the doc thinks it will heal easily and quickly. She may not need the cast for any longer than four weeks. In Coast Guard news, we will be moving this May to San Diego, far sooner than we had previously expected. The more I think about San Diego, the more I am ready to move. I love Navarre Beach dearly but man-oh-man these Spring Breakers are something else. We are ready for a true family home. At night I fall asleep to visions of a fenced in back yard equipped with BBQ, fire pit, herb/citrus garden and toys. The best part is we never have to say good-bye to Navarre Beach. We are hoping to return Fall 2014 to start an annual tradition of family vacations. Megan

Hello ER. This is my Daughter.

I was blow-drying my hair when I heard Lydia's cry. I found her standing in the living room next to the sofa and an overturned baby doll stroller with tears streaming down her cheeks. This was the beginning of our journey which would include a quick lay-over at Urgent Care before landing at the Pensacola Naval Hospital Emergency Room. John met us at the hospital and held Lydia during her painful xrays and doctor's visit, a great reminder of why we are getting into the Coast Guard...so that he can be there for the journey. Lydia has a clean break in her ulna bone near her elbow. We will return to the hospital tomorrow for her six week cast. Megan
