Strawberry Picking in February

Strawberry picking season arrived even earlier this year than last. Lydia and I took advantage of today's sunshine by heading to Aker's Farm. Lydia was thrilled to point out the berries to me and carry our basket. She jumped in the mud puddles and taste-tested the berries--a tad tart but still yummy. Lydia learned about the burden of wet jeans. It was a messy and fun way to spend a weekday morning. Megan

Lydia Gets a Free Pass

The last few days have been rough for Lydia. She was not her happy self. She did not sleep well. She ran a slight fever. She was irritable and weak. She shivered. This morning Lydia woke up cheerful and energetic. In fact, as I type this she is laughing and teasing Lucy with her cereal. Nothing puts everything into perspective like seeing Lydia sick. Lydia, you have a free pass today (and heck, tomorrow too!) to make whatever mess you like. Megan

Happy Valentine's Day!

Someone is enjoying her Valentine's Day goodies! Thank you Aunt Peggy and Uncle Jim!!! Megan

"Way-O"

Lydia's favorite new activity is Play-doh, which she pronounces as "way-o." Often we cannot leave the condo, even just to walk Lucy, without having a can of play-doh with us. In Lydia's mind, you never know when you might want need it. Megan

We are Moving to....

John received his first set of Coast Guard orders on Friday and they are to....San Diego! Having lived there before, these are the wonderful things I remember about San Diego:

Glorious weather
Fires on the beach
Zoo and Wild Animal Parks
Seaworld (and now Legoland)
Community parks
In-N-Out Burger
Hiking on Cowles Mountain
Costco and Ikea
Point Loma Seafood
Huge flea market every Saturday
Las Vegas weekend trips
Camping
Trips to LA to watch live tapings
Renting boats on the bay
Padres baseball

Clearly we are happy to be heading west! John will be flying his preferred aircraft, the 60. I plan on spending a lot of time with Lydia and Lucy outdoors. Figuring out our timeline is the next hurdle. Megan

Mardi Gras 2013

The best part of this year's Mardi Gras celebration for Lydia was easily the beads. She puts them on herself, her baby dolls, John, myself and even Lucy. The best part of Mardi Gras for John and I? Sharing the parade with John's Aunt Peggy and Uncle Jim who are snowbirding at Summerwind for the month! Megan
