Navarre, thanks for the perfect beach vacation! Every day on the beach was slightly different providing the kids with new entertainment. We saw dolphins, a sea turtle and lots of jellyfish (luckily no stings!). John truly unplugged from work; he didn't check his email once! We ate at all our old favorite spots, including three meals of fish tacos. We got phenomal sleep, thanks to central air conditioning. Today we are back to the daily grind in San Diego and already looking forward to our next beach vacation. Megan

Sweet Beach Moments
We are having the best beach vacation. The only downside of spending days on the beach is not having a camera handy to capture the beautiful moments. If only I could have captured Lydia holding Jack's hand while they waded out into the crystal clear water. This perfect picture will live in my head always. Megan

Palafox Market
Thanks Peggy and Jim for recommending the Palafox Market in downtown Pensacola. It was a real treat looking at all the art and homemade goodies. The kids particularly loved dancing to the folk music. Lydia broke out some of her ballet moves. Megan

Yeehaw!
We picked up some pink cowgirl boots from our San Diego thrift store for Lydia's upcoming Halloween costume (My Little Pony Applejack). However, she couldn't wait till Halloween to start wearing them. Lydia has been rockin' the cowgirl boots daily ever since, including on the beach. She gets constant compliments from strangers. I have a feeling she is never going to take them off. Megan

Made it, All Smiles
We traveled across the US yesterday and made it to our little piece of heaven. The kids were troopers and woke up to a gorgeous day at the beach. Megan

Wise Owl
Today is Lydia's first official day in the wise owl classroom at her school. She will miss Miss Sharlet and being a busy bee, as her expression shows. I'm excited for this new challenge for Lydia. Megan

Lemonade Stand
Happy Labor Day! We spent the morning selling lemonade and cookies in front of the house. Business was slow, and a little heart-breaking, at first but picked up and we sold out of lemonade in a few hours. Lydia made about $10, not too shabby! She has recently fallen in love with way over-priced small toys, shopkins and fash 'em ponies. The lemonade stand was one of our first atttempts to teach Lydia about money. My mom, as a teacher of money-management, should be so proud of us. Megan

New Plate
I got my first personalized license plate ever in the mail this week! I wish I could take the credit for it but it was all John's doing. Now I'm sporting my love of sea turtles and Navarre all over San Diego. Megan
Choo-Choo!
It looks like our little guy is a train enthusiast! By his persistent request, Jack has watched a Thomas the Train movie daily for weeks now and excitedly points out "choo-choos" in books. We headed to the miniature train museum in Balboa Park yesterday and found it pleasantly not busy. Summer is winding down! The train museum has a great basement quality. Dark and cool, time seems to stand still. The old men running the trains smile and wave at the kids. They have added a great play area as well. Megan

September Vacay!
It's September!!! Just two more weeks until our annual trip to Navarre. I'm really looking forward to our ten day trip. John is taking off work and (fingers crossed) we don't have any arm or leg casts to hassle with. Looking forward to swimming in the warm Gulf. Megan
Weekend with Pops
Pops visited for one of the hottest weekends we have had all summer. Temps in the high nineties and humid, yuck! Pops and Lydia escaped the heat with a afternoon movie together. Pops took us to his favorite shopping spot, Costco, and we left with a car packed to the gills. We hosted the Reel family for a pool party. John and I even got a sunrise ride together. We made the most of the heat wave! Megan
