Being Flexible

Jack is going through the often difficult transition from two to one nap a day.  I'm trying my best to be flexible, something I struggled with when Lydia went through similar changes.  So yesterday when Jack started crying, instead of napping, I threw everyone in the car and headed a hour out of town to Bates Nut Farm.  We made a pleasant day out of a frustrating situation.  Jack took a little cat nap in the car.  Both kids enjoyed feeding the animals.  We spent almost three hours outside enjoying the day.  Megan

Jack's Photo Shoot

Here's one of my favorite photos of Jack, captured today while tinkering with camera.  I love that he has his dad's chin dimple.  Megan

Good Day

I haven't posted much in the past week because it has been a bit of a rough one.  Painful teething and difficulty napping plagued Jack.  Everything Lydia was able to do that he could not angered him.  My mantra was "just keep going."  And it seems like we are now turning a corner.  Today was a gorgeous seventy degree day.  Both kids were a pleasure to be around and they enjoyed each other.  Today was a much needed and loved "good day."  Megan

Found!

The My Little Pony hair was found hiding under sofa.  I am greatly relieved to not have to make another ER trip.  Jack is relieved to not undergo his first enema. Megan

Citrus

Alright, so I'm going to be positive about San Diego in this post.  Instead of lemonade stands, a child in my neighborhood sells bags of citrus that grow in her backyard.  Now that is cute!  Here are the tangelos and blood oranges we purchased today for $5.  As far as my three fruit trees?  After a fruitful first harvest, my favorite lemon tree sadly died.  I have no idea why.  My clementine tree took awhile to get going, but had a delicious first harvest just a few months ago.  My guava tree is going great guns with its second harvest now.  However, I still have no idea how to cook/eat guavas.  Megan

Oops...and Now We Wait

Lydia has fallen in love with tiny figurines. We have quite a few of them.  She plays with them at bath time and carries them with her to places in a small purse.  We even have multiples of the same characters.  Here is an example.  Notice how one pony is missing her hair?  We are waiting on Jack to poop it out any day now.  Megan

Back in Backyard Business

Nice temps are back and Lydia is back in preschool three days a week.  So Jack is all about spending his day with me in the backyard.  I plan on spending a lot of time in the yard this upcoming year.  It was something I wished for when Lydia was a young toddler.  It provides great, easy entertainment for this guy!  Megan

Knotts Berry Farm Day

It was killing me that January 5th was creeping up on us and we had yet to visit Knotts Berry Farm Amusement Park in LA for a limited-time free admission, another fabulous military perk.  Like Seaworld, large crowds were expected.  This time large crowds meant a ridiculous amount of people and super long lines, probably due to the sunny weather.  Lydia rode five kiddie rides over the course of three hours, then we called it quits.  Poor Jack.  The kid hardly made it out of his stroller as there was no room for him to move at all.  I do appreciate my family and their willingness to scratch my itch to cash in on these freebies.  We even found free parking!  Megan
