Playmates
Like a broken record I spent my day reminding Lydia that she needs to start sharing her toys with Jack. The highlight of my day, however, was watching Lydia make Jack laugh over and over again. She is realizing that he can be a fun playmate after all. Click on the link to view video. http://youtu.be/UkhoalUPYNY

San Jacinto Mountain and Ice-Cream
John investigates new places to explore just outside of San Diego. He navigates and drives. I pack up for the kids and take care of them along the way. Point being, we make a great team. Yesterday we headed a few hours northeast to Palm Springs. We rode a rotating airtram up the second highest mountain in California to 8,500 feet. The tram thrilled Lydia. Jack caught up on his beauty sleep. The day ended with a drive around Palm Springs to check out the architecture with Lydia in the backseat asking "Ice-cream? How about ice-cream? I want ice-cream. Ice-cream? How about ice-cream?" Megan

The Good and the Bad
The Good:
Sleep training worked! Jack is sleeping through the night from 7 pm - 6 am flat in the crib. To celebrate, he rode in his first grocery cart.
The Bad:
Jack is uber cranky and not napping well because he is cutting two bottom teeth. The grocery cart provided a much needed distraction from his misery.

Future Body-Builder???
Here is Jack doing his morning exercises. In an attempt to crawl, he typically does maneuvers only seen in the gym, planks and push-ups. Megan

Gotta Work Son
Jack, time to go to work. No more lazy days of bottles and dozing in your favorite bouncy chair at your leisure. John and I have started down the rough path of pushing Jack to sleep flat in his crib. Once we get past this hurdle, it will be time to say good-bye to the four a.m. feeding. I am also encouraging new foods, as I feel my early trepidation contributed to Lydia's feeding difficulties. Jack wasn't sure what to think of the finger foods at first but eventually came around to the cheerios. Megan

I Promise You!
The other night I read through old postings, reminding myself what Lydia was up to when she was Jack's age, and it really struck me that my blog has gone downhill. My promise to you is to bring D and DD back to its original glory! So here is my first blog photo of Jack using my good camera, rather than my phone. Megan

The Things Kids Say...and Do
Lydia's favorite thing to do when baking is crack eggs. First she smells the egg and comments "Smells yellow." Then she breaks it. Also, Lydia keeps making goofy faces when I try to take her picture. Megan

I Am Reminded
To be honest, I often feel negatively about our current rental home in San Diego. No air-conditioning, no guest bedroom, older and small - it just isn't my dream home. I must be reminded why we chose it in the first place. We chose it for the kids. I can continue to stay home. It has a huge backyard. A short commute for John means more time with the kids. It is next to a good school that Lydia will attend in a few years. A new reason to feel good about our home is Lydia's preschool! Reasonably-priced and nearby. No tearful morning goodbyes. Lydia comes home happy asking to return to school again. This home is the place for us. Megan

6 Month Check-up
Jack had his six month doctor's visit today (two weeks overdue). He is almost 19 pounds, which places him at the 70th percentile. The doctor was impressed with Jack's motor skills. His ability to sit up on his own and rock on all fours, an indicator that he will soon crawl, is a few months ahead of the norm. Still no teeth, though we see constant drool. Megan
