This is Not a Old Post

Easter left quite an impression on Lydia.  For weeks she has been begging us to dye eggs again as well as hunt for them. We have seen tears over the desire to color eggs again.  I couldn't make her wait until next Spring for such a simple pleasure.  Thank goodness for Amazon which made ordering the dye easy.  Megan

My Lydia Days

John has duty about once a week from three pm until the following day at three pm.  The good thing about duty is John has off the entire morning prior to starting duty.  During this time he often stays with Jack at home, freeing Lydia and I to explore all her favorite things in San Diego.  Today was a Lydia day and we spent three hours in the sun at the Botanic Gardens.  Megan

Five Months Old

Jack will be five months old tomorrow.  You know the saying "God only gives you what you can handle?"  Well, I think God recognized that my threshold for stress and lack of sleep is low when He gave us Jack.  Jack is a pure joy.  I couldn't ask for a easier, sweeter or more cuddly baby.  Megan

Yay for the Parents!!!

We found a babysitter!  Here we are leaving for date night.  We already have our next date scheduled for our anniversary.  Megan

Our Week in Review

We had another heat wave here in San Diego, our second of the year already! The 100 degree heat kept us indoors with the blinds drawn and our window AC pumping most days.  Also unfortunate, we all shared the same cold.  My simple goal for the week was to get everyone healthy.  John and I met that goal but unfortunately the kids did not.  We did venture out to the Safari Park, where the splashpad and carousel were the biggest hits.  I also discovered that a local military park got a brand new playground.  Once the pool opens this probably will be our new favorite spot in San Diego this summer (no crowds and lots of shade).  Jack has entered what I consider to be the best of all baby stages; I love watching him bounce, smile and shriek in the Jumperoo.   Lastly, Lydia has a confirmed spot in preschool. She will attend the neighborhood program three days a week beginning end of June.  This potty-trained girl is ready!  Megan

Biking with Lydia

Lydia has figured out that her bike is indeed not broken but instead must be pedaled and steered.  She loves doing laps around our backyard and greeting Jack along the way.  Here is the link:

Hang In There Buddy

Jack has his first cold and he is teething, messy business.  Luckily Lucy's kisses keep him smiling.  He is such a good natured baby.  Megan

Jack Charms Grammy and Granddad

Dad and Dana kindly postponed their visit to meet Jack until last weekend so that John and I could participate in the run.  We knew the kids would be well taken care of.  The highlight of Grammy and Granddad's visit for I think all of us was visiting the Sector on Sunday evening for dinner and a tour of John's helicopter.  Like us, Dad and Dana are a fan of the Coast Guard shows on the Weather Channel.  We even got to see one taking off, a first for even me!  Megan

Safari Park Half Marathon

So I hadn't mentioned previously that John and I have been training for a half marathon (13.1 miles). It was a goal we set for ourselves just a few days after Jack's birth.  My first training run was actually a two mile run/walk that wasn't easy.  While we worked our way up to seven mile runs on the weekends, I didn't believe I would be successful at completing a half marathon so soon after having delivered a baby until about mile four of the actual run, when I realized I was having fun.  Our time was 2 hours and 24 minutes, far better than my goal of 3 hours.  Maybe caring for two little kids is a better workout than I realized!  Megan

Just Like Dad

Lydia wants to be just like her dad.  John was painting the playhouse and wearing protective glasses so Lydia requested to paint and wear glasses.  Megan
