Just Go
Another quote that has been replaying in my ear is the advice from another mom of two I found on the web. "With two kids, just go. Gooooo!" Simply put but right on. I am learning to face each day with as much energy and enthusiasm I can muster. Megan

About Lydia
"Don't let yourself become so concerned with raising a good kid that you forget you already have one."
This was a quote I recently came across that hit home. Lydia has truly impressed me lately with her acceptance of Jack into our family, kindness towards others on the playground and easy transition to a toddler bed. Having a newborn highlights how much Lydia has learned in just two and a half years of life. So proud of the person she has become. Megan

All About Jack
Jack is almost a month old and he is growing quickly! He has quite the healthy appetite and is already too big for his newborn clothes. Unlike Lydia, Jack is more a fan of his bouncer than the swing. Also he is not a pacifier fan, though I keep trying (habit). He enjoys car rides, his playmat, and being held. Jack has his dad's chin. Megan

San Diego Botanic Gardens
After spending much time at home over the past few weeks (doctor's recommendation), Lydia and I have enjoyed getting back to our out-and-about routine. Jack likes to be active too, puts him right to sleep. Yesterday we discovered the Botanic Gardens and became members. The Childrens Garden was impressive. Gotta take advantage of eighty degree weather in January. Megan

My Family
This is our first family photo as a foursome, taken when Jack was just one day old. It is a favorite. Megan

Evidence
Evidence of the crime Folks. Lydia climbed out of her crib (by stacking her blankets and stuffed animals) for the first time today. Being a control freak, I am in total shock. John, the Optimist, thinks it is wonderful. "She is growing up," he reminds me. Megan
Coffee Time
Click on the link to see a video of Lydia making coffee, a necessity in our house right now. Megan

Back to Mobile
John is spending the week completing his flight training in Mobile. How am I doing taking care of a newborn and a two year old (who have completely different energy levels) on my own??? Well, I have an even greater appreciation for John. This parenting thing, particularly with two kids, is best done with a partner. For now we are making it through, thanks to daily park visits and plenty of Curious George. Megan

2013 was a year of big change for us:
Selected for the Coast Guard
Lydia broke her arm
Became pregnant
Outfitted condo for rental market
Successful house hunt
Separated from the Navy
Joined the Coast Guard
Week in Columbia
Cross country move to San Diego
Started new job
Lydia turned two
Grandma Sager passed away
Inherited/bought new car
One month at Coast Guard Academy
Cross country road trip
Three weeks at condo
Nine week flight training in Mobile

We are hoping that 2014 brings us less change and a little more relaxation! Megan
