Home Sweet Home
It is so wonderful to be back in our baby-proofed home. So far I have not detected any damage. We are fortunate. Even the beach looks better than I had expected. Lydia is thrilled to be reunited with all her toys. Here she is pretending her plastic turtle is a telephone. Megan

We Survived!
I just received an email from the Summerwind Property Manager that reports no damage to the condos. We did have quite the storm surge and I imagine beach errosion will be a problem. Lydia and I will head back to Navarre tomorrow with John joining us before the weekend. Here is a great video Joe passed onto me showing some of the effects of Issac on Navarre Beach. http://www.pnj.com/videonetwork/1811184082001?odyssey=mod%7ctvideo%7carticle&nclick_check=1 Megan

The Answer is....
B it is! At least that is the current plan. John will be headed to Tennessee with his aircraft. Megan
Not Looking Forward to Meeting Isaac
Hurricane Isaac appears to be headed our way and I'm sure you are all shocked to learn that I am feeling anxious about it [add sarcastic tone here]. Truth be told though, we signed up for this and no matter what happens, living on Navarre Beach has been completely worthwhile. Not that a category one is going to destroy it, just that it is going to be painful to watch our little beach community take a beating. My plans are still uncertain. If John must evacuate the helicopters I will either A) wait out the storm in the condo which has a very large generator B) stay at a friend's house 50 miles north with no generator c) pack up Lucy and Lydia and drive home to the Midwest. Lydia Reaches 14 Months!
Lydia's silly faces and dances are sure to make us chuckle. She is active, active, ACTIVE! I do find myself worn-out at the end of my toddler-chasing-days but it is far better to be tired than worried (as I was in her early baby days). Her favorite word is "up" and she uses it for everything. I love watching Lydia use common objects for their purpose; she helps me sweep and comb my hair. She puts on our shoes and attempts to walk around. She loves playing with her Megablocks and pulling random objects out of drawers. Sesame Street is quickly replacing Baby Einstein. As far as dining, Lydia continues to show slow improvement. She loves apples but will often chew-and-spew them, making quite the mess. Megan

Hello ER, Me Again
Another painful lesson learned--Do not put your finger in a hand blender, ever. What I was thinking, I have no clue! Four stitches and half a fingernail lost. I am just so thankful John was home. Megan

How Big is Lydia!?!?
Here is a short video clip of Lydia playing on the balcony in her new, empty pool. She is pretty excited about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4AdSsneGLk&feature=youtu.be Megan

Pavement and Popsicles
Lydia took her first spill on the pavement today while playing with Lucy in the parking lot. My heart breaks every time I see her forehead. After the tears, Lydia enjoyed a messy and well-deserved popsicle. Megan

Just Call John the Toddler-Whisperer
You know how I remarked in a prior post that I wasn't stressing about Lydia's recent tantrums??? Lie, total lie. I have been quite anxious about this abrupt change in Lydia, though I recognize it is normal. I am not fibbing now when I say I have come to terms with Lydia's toddler-ness, thanks mostly to John. He taught me today that a great way to enjoy Lydia in this new stage is to keep her busy with fun activities for all of us. The day started with a bike ride, followed by a trip to the splash pad, two and half hour nap (thanks to all the fresh air), then out to lunch, topped off with a friend's first Birthday party. We had a wonderful day with no big tantrums. Bring on the activities! Megan
First Word Official
"Ball" is Lydia's first word! John found a bouncy ball in the parking lot and Lydia can't stop talking about it. Megan

Meet My Toddler
Lydia acts more and more like a toddler every day. This picture pretty much sums up our week. She was wild and crazy, both in play and tantrums. I, on the other hand, always seemed in need of a nap. One thing I have learned is to stress less about the rough days. These stages come and go pretty quickly. Megan
